if u like death note, u wont regret it. story-wise its better than the anime, but the anime has bonuses of voices and OST and animation. but the manga expands more on peoples thought process, and writes characters better in the second half. you dont have to read it, but i think its worth it and i recommend The second arc broke my heart.
